Abas Alhassan is the Chairman of Affluence Childcare Hope Foundation. He is currently the Head of Internal audit for Standard Bank Africa with operations in 17 African countries covering retail, corporate and investment banking. He has over 34 years’ experience in risk management, internal and external audit, forensic examination, finance, bank operations and branch management. His experience spans Nigeria, West Africa and Africa continent.

Before his current appointment as the Head of Internal audit for Standard Bank Africa which is part of Standard Bank Group, he was the Head of Internal Audit in Stanbic IBTC Holding PLC and was in charge of Nigeria, Ghana and DRC. Prior to that, He was the Director of Internal Audit and later Director of Finance and Administration in the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI) in Accra, Ghana. He was also the former Chairman of the Committee of Chief Internal Auditors of Banks in Nigeria

He started his career with Peat Marwick AniOgunde& Co (later KPMG), a firm of External auditors, where He trained as an Accountant and later joined the Banking Supervision Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria where he participated in on-site examination of banks. Before he joined Stanbic IBTC Holding PLC. He worked with International Merchant Bank (later IMB International Bank) where he occupied the positions of Branch Manager, Port Harcourt and Kano, Head, Internal Audit and Planning, Head, Finance and Accounts, and Head, Central Operations/Transactional Banking departments.
